while researching multi-cultural barbies (see my snapshots) i came across this article about asians are (mis)represented by the barbie doll. my favorite line is definitely: "Sure, an [sic] FOB, friend of Barbie. Might as well be vice president." but that got me started thinking again about how asains are being affected wit the onset of cheaper and less invasive cosmetics surgery and even stronger forces of hollywood. i then found this interesting article which brings up a bit on how asians getting their feet narrowed. ...foot binding anyone? i can hardly stand the irony! which leads me to this site which goes thru the ages and defines the standards of traditional chinese beauty.
wether you're asian or not. female or male. please do take the time and read these sites. esp the second one (which mentions feet binding). this plague of needing to conform to wat the western media tells us is beautiful touches us all.
