lingyin temple

these pictures are from the lingyin temple in hangzhou (more detailed info here). these pictures are the four heavenly kings. most of the temples in china have huge statues like these here. i'm not sure who they are or anything but they're pretty cool to look at anyway. btw? sometimes these king guys are really scary looking!

"LONDON - A British poll on eating habits found that 36 percent of children were unaware that french fries, or chips, are made from potatoes. Nearly 1-in-10 of the 1,002 children between 8 and 14 questioned by the British Heart foundation thought chips were mostly made of oil, while others suggested salt, eggs, flour, and even apples, The Telegraph reported. Another 37 percent did not know that cheese was made mostly of milk. "Kids have lost touch with the most basic foods and no longer understand what they are eating," said Peter Hollins, the foundation's director general." and the same 30 odd % didn't know that these bandages weren't made out of real bacon.

oh, and before you get all snarky about how american children must be smarter, remember that since you're probably from california and cali ranks only #46 on the Smartest State list you're probably just as stupid.

oh dear, remember last school year when i updated this site nearly everyday? i wonder how i found the time! anyway, check out the screenshots from the new microsoft office, not yet released. *appt injecting human brains into horses makes them run faster. *and you gotta go watch this crazy camera paintbrush stuff! it's crazy! clip sorta longish? but worth it.

hangzhou

finally, pictures from my china trip! these are from the city of hangzhou, where my dad comes from actually. the first picture is of the 'theme park' where the song dynasty show is at (the show sucked). next is at feilai feng which is the mountainous place that has a lot of religious statues actually carved into the mountain. and lastly is of lunch at tianwaitian, a famous resturant. and for those of you who kno pingyin, look! it's a real fan4 tong3 in the middle. hehe. :)
