july 2024 donation

bit late with my july donation. but i finally did it. :)

last night j and i went to a free concert at the hatch memorial shell. it was so nice! we brought a blanket to sit on, leftover pizza, and some other foods. we listened to the music and stared up at the darkening sky and we each saw a shooting star!

the concert was presented by the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and the Rivers School Conservatory. I donated to the first (mostly cause they asked for it, and i didn't even realize the rivers school thing until i looked it all up online today in prep for making this post)

it was great! kind of like being at a more intimate hollywood bowl. with much much much more goose poop, lol.

2015 china playlist

much smart this year, remembered to bring my mp3 player as well as my phone. both full of music. rip had asked why i keep around my old mp3 player. it's because planes don't always let you use your phone (even when on airplane mode). and, actually, if you do use your phone on the plane, even just to listen to music, sometimes the sound comes out distorted.

sexy music

last month classical pianist yuja wang played at the hollywood bowl with the la phil and the next day, much of the press coverage was not about her talent, instead, it was about her wardrobe.

i think she looks cheap. i hate the haircut and i think the dress is tacky / too revealing. but! i think she can wear what she wants. classical music has a bad rap for being stuffy, but that doesn't have to be. wang is only 24 and she has a decent body, so she if doesn't want to cover up, she shouldn't have to. even though her dress reveals more than i'd like to see, her outfit isn't at all indecent, so i don't see what the problem is. besides, her most recent cd is titled "transformation". maybe she's using fashion to help transform the image of classical music to something more hip, even sexy.

(ps, why are her shoes so big? does she have to pick a size too large because of piano playing stuff? cause i don't think that's the case...)

i'm sure you've heard the idiotic song by lmfao, sexy and i know it. i thought it was the dumbest thing ever cause i thought they were being serious (just pay attention to the lyrics) but then rip showed me the music video and now... haha, i feel differently. it's hilarious!

i might be one of the few people who still buy cds. i do research before buying tho. i go on youtube and listen to a few songs off the album. if i only like one song, i just buy the song. of all the cds i've bought (or received as gifts [tho i did ask for those ones specifically]) in the last year, i have one standout favorite: miike snow. and awesomely enough, i hear their songs being played all the time in random stores.

others i've bought in the last year or so (in no order): fight club soundtrack, maria taylor - lady luck, anberlin - cities (special edition), grace potter and the nocturnals (self titled), honeyhoney - loose boots ep, daft punk - tron legacy soundtrack, mumford & sons - sigh no more, elie goulding - lights.

oh that karl, he always knows exactly what a woman wants, no? the tweed helmet with handy ipod holder is just what i need. ...if i was super rich and had a vespa and there were no laws against listening to dual headphone / earpiece devices while driving around... eh, cute anyway. :)

zune

microsoft announces their mp3 player called the zune (eesh i hate that name). it's not bad looking and comes in white, black, and brown. from the pictures i sorta like the brown (!) cause it reminds me of old school radios. wat i like best tho is that it comes wit a fm radio and has wireless capability. so you can trade stuff wit others witout having to actualy hook up. pretty cool. now if only the would change that stupid name...

ipods

apple has been working hard lately. introducing the new ipod nano and the new shuffle. i do not like the shuffle. i mean yeah, it's small, but it's also ugly as hell. ...

moving pictures

top 65 music videos of 2005. you can dl them too! and many are ipod compatible. good selection. and not completely mainstream music either, yay!
