with this ring...

source
did you know that newlish-wed prince william does not wear a wedding ring? he doesn't like jewelry, apptly. ...i'm not sure what to make of that. i get that a ring is a piece of jewelry, but it's not some random accessory worn for the simple sake of it being pretty, you know what i mean?

i guess all traditions aside, a wedding band is a simple way of telling others that you're married. in that way i guess prince william doesn't need it, since anyone who knows who he is also knows that he's married. the above article says that it used to serve as a reminder for sailors of home and family, which i think still works, and for non-sailors as well. but i think for a lot of people a wedding band is also a symbol of pride. "i'm married, i'm happy i'm married, and i want everyone to know it."

i get that wedding rings can come off and that marriage is a state of mind; it certainly isn't anything tangible. but i would hope my husband would want to, and i honestly expect him to, wear a wedding band. i would actually be really weirded out if he didn't want to wear one. i'd probably even be offended.

btw, rip said a few months ago that he's glad he doesn't wear jewelry (and no, i don't think he was cryptically trying to tell me something).but it'll be pretty interesting to see what he decides should the occasion ever come up, no?

modern jewelry

i love jewelry. so a lot of my etsy posts will probably be featuring jewelry designers. sorry! ...tho it is my blog, so eh.

arosha luigi taglia actually has two stores: arosha of contemporary jewelry and sleeks, where he sells items made from handmade silk. both modern and simple, but very different in materials and feel. the items here are all from arosha.

felt & feathers

off all the world's talent, i think it's fair to say that etsy.com has more than it's fair share of talent. (awkward sentence, oh well). laura of larisa71, for instance, creates the most beautiful bib necklaces and brooches suing mostly felt and feathers. and for incredibly cheap too!

etsy store: larisa71
prices $10 - $20

eshop

it may be crazy, but i love the shape of these shoes. now if the actual thing looked better...

and i've always wanted one of these. a branch jewelry stand. course, wat i would like better is if it were an actual branch. or made of coral :)

glooey

remember in elementary school when you'd cover your palms in glue, wait for it to dry, and see if you could peel it all off witout ripping it? little did you imagine that you could actually turn that little hobby into something worthwhile: how to make a glue bracelet! ...okay, i kno, not exactly worthwhile, but it is pretty cool. :)

fantasy jewelry box

fantasy jewelry box: affordable jewelry for expensive tastes. in other words, pretty stuff for cheapish prices. i loves me these horseshoes earrings. i think they're a bit large tho... but these 'love and peace' earrings are so pretty! ooh this is pretty, valentine ring, only $15 and just in time for valentine's day!

overstock.com

overstock.com has some suprisingly nice things! well... not surprisingly nice. but surprisingly pretty! these picks are a little different from the ice.com picks in the last post. a pretty cheap ($32.99) but still pretty art deco necklace. a good choice for that sorta modern, sorta old school woman in your life. i like this next necklace a lot (sorta considering it actually). very simple and perfect for all occasions, wit real diamonds! for $89.99. and for the ladies who don't like necklaces maybe she would like a ring. it's sorta a weird ring... reminds me of a class ring. or something superman would wear. but i like it; it's pretty cool, and meaningful! ctr: choose the right. in gold it's $14.99 and in silver it's $12.99.

and lastly, from nordstrom, we have this very cool winged necklace for $98. i actually like this quite a bit too. planning on going to nordstrom this weekend to check it out. it says mini, but i'm not totally convinced (and no, i can't be bothered to take out my ruler and just measure out the dimentions)

ice.com

this snapshots site has become nearly exclusively fashion and jewelry stuff. sorry! originally i wanted to make it broader than that. have a little bit of everything. as long as it was 'pretty'. but i dunno... i'm pretty dedicated to fashion and jewelry, so it's just easier for me to find stuff like that... i'll try tho. to expand the posts beyond that. ...but not starting wit this post. lol...

ice.com has lots and lots of pretty pretty things! here are some ideas for things to get for a girlfriend or sister or mother or friend who likes jewelry. :) btw, there's free shipping on all orders and everything i've chosen is for less than $100!

a simple silver flower pendant for daily wear for that girly girl of yours ($25). and a fancier (altho not much more expensive $30) necklace wit colorful and sparkly stones. another option, maybe for a more tomboyish girl, is this tough looking black stringray pendant on a ball chain ($75). and for the girl that prefers earrings, i suggest this pair ($55). very pretty czs, which can be both dressed up and dressed down.

anthropologie

lotus flower ringbinocular dropsanthopoligie has the prettiest stuff (albeit, rather expensive as well). i love these binocular drop earrings and this absolutely gorgeous lotus flower ring. i am not kidding about this ring. i am in love! wowie! i seriously think this ring is pretty enough to be an engagement ring. well, no, i mean, it's only plated gold. and besides, it wouldn't fit me. it's a size 7 and 8. ...maybe on my big toe?

rose rings

Metal Rose Ring
Night Rose Ring

i love me these rings (esp the black one) from urban outfitters. but damnit wit my tiny fingers how much you wanna bet i'll never find one in my size? :(

edit: i actually went and checked out the rings. i only saw the metal one. but it's huge. not just finger hole part. but the flower. it's huge!

gorjana

gorjana jewelry feature some very simple, yet quite decorative, jewelry in gold and silver. (make sure to go to the 'shop' and not 'collections' or you'll have to sign in). my favorite is the 'lucky charm heart' necklace which is surprisingly affordable at $70.

rachel leigh

rachel leigh has some pretty nice stuff. it's a smallish collection tho. there's only one ring (i loves me rings) but she has quite a few necklaces. my favorite, by far, is the 'over it' necklace.

robyn rhodes

robyn rhodes has some pretty nice stuff. some of it is too 'fancy' for me cause i prefer simple over ornate. but i do rather like her lindsey ring. i do not, however, like her stephanie earrings. but that lady modeling 'em shore is purty. :)

idol worship

shop intuition's target couture: jewelry, tees, bags, and jeans. my faves are the distressed logo tees, the canvas tote bag (looks like it's gucci!) and the canvas tote buckle bag (which looks a lot like that lv bag which i also find rather fetching)

exhibitionist

exhibitionist: it's a line of jewelry by michael spirito. and seriously. if i had some of these peices i'd be dying to show them off as well.

1. skull earrings  2. crowned heart pendant  3. skull pendants  4. skull ring
most of these peices come in your choice of silver or gold. and also your choice of stones. i think i'm in love :)

handpicked

handpicked has a nice selection of monogrammed jewelry for very reasonable prices. wat's nice too, is that you can pick your own monogram style and font. i'm a fan of the tiny disc necklace (like this one), their charms (esp the boy cutout), and their small square earrings.
