so i've been sending emails to different tutoring places in taiwan. recently i got a couple emails back requesting a photo. now, i kno why they're asking for a picture. they wanna see if i'm white. well, i'm not. so most likely i won't be getting those jobs. bah. several issues ago in newsweek there was an op ed peice on some african american woman doctor who said that often when she went to visit patients they thought she was the nurse, even after she explained she was the doctor. she blamed it on her sex as well as on her race. even at the time i could sympathize. and after this incident, well... damn. =\
btw, if you haven't figured it out yet, that photo at right was the picture i sent out. i think i look pretty 'american'. not that that'll be enough tho...

pshhh, i dont think you look american enough. in fact, to look MORE american, what you SHOULD do is wear a qupao next time. A NICE RED ONE with golden dragons embroidered on it. yay!
and at least if you get rejected it'd be on paper, whereas when i wanted to teach english in china, i got it in my face, a rejection flat out to my face. at least they liked my voice...dunno why. i sound MANLY (please read that using deep timbre-ed voice).
you look american? With that bright communist red shirt?
I think it's cuz your hair isn't stick straight and you don't have a fob cut like mine :o)
Nice pic!
doh! realized later that i should've smiled wit teeth. they say that americans are very toothy. proud of our dental work i suppose...
