ae

sorta like that custom made handbag idea, american eagle has custom made flipflops and the best part? they're only $12.50 each (plus another $5 in shipping. so if you and your friends all get a pair...)! incredible.

dis-heartened

remember how i had that tiffany's update on my snapshots site a while ago? well i actually found that heart necklace on ebay. the starting bid was at $99 but it did come without the chain... i still wanted it pretty badly tho. i actualy first saw that necklace two valentine's days ago in an instyle magazine and wanted it then. but it was $400! then i see it on ebay for a fraction of that price. so i'm thinking i just gotta bid. so today i decided that the most i would pay for it was $126.89 which really, isn't that much when compared to it's retail price. reepal was over at the time. and he was super nice. he even wanted to put in some money for me (he actually insisted!). but i decided, no, because even tho i really love it... it's just... not necessary, you kno? anyway, i lost the bid. i was actually pretty upset. i even cried a little. (yes i'm on my period, lol) but i just... i mean i won't come across a deal like this ever again and so i'm really sad to be losing out. but at the same time... paying over $100 on a 'fun' purchase when i don't have a job... that's just irresponsible. and i kno reepal offered to put in money for it. he even offered like $100 which totally would've gotten me the necklace. but at the same time... so anyway. i'm a little heart broken. :( but it's okay. i do like another necklace (way cheaper) so if i ever see that on ebay i'll snap it up witout feeling bad.

strange...

HAMBURG, Germany - Imagine the surprise of gas station attendants when a man showed up at the station carrying the severed head of his wife. The 40-year-old man, who claimed to be mentally ill, had decapitated his wife and brought the head to the Hamburg gas station. He asked an attendant to call police and confessed to the killing. Police found the rest of his wife's body at the man's home, along with the couple's two small daughters. "The 40-year-old appeared confused and said that he had killed his wife," said police spokeswoman Karina Sadowsky. The daughters were taken into state custody.

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - A Florida woman who heard someone knocking at her front door was shocked when she looked out and spotted an 8-foot alligator. The alligator was even more frightening because it had a bloody jaw. She called her husband who then called the superintendent of their gated community, who summoned an alligator trapper. The alligator remained at the door for an hour, banging its head against it occasionally. When it slid into the community's pond, the trapper got it. Experts say this is the time of year when male alligators wander, looking for prospective mates.

LONGMONT, Colo. - Jason Niccum thought he had the perfect setup. Using a device that let him change traffic lightsfrom red to green, he was able to practically fly to work everyday. But the party is over now that he has received a $50 ticket on suspicion of interfering with a traffic signal. Niccum said he bought the device on eBay for $100, and it has cut his driving time to work. "I guess in the two years I had it, that thing paid for itself," he told the Daily Times-Call. The device is known as an Opticon and is similar to what firefighters use to change lights during emergencies. Niccum was cited after police caught him using the Opticon to change traffic lights.

MIAMI - A Miami man was due in court on a car-stealing charge with no way to get there, so, police say, he stole another car to keep his date. That landed Thomas Minks in a lot of trouble -- with the law catching up with him in the parking lot of the Miami-Dade Justice Building where a stun gun was used to stop him after he tried to flee and reportedly almost ran down two officers, the Miami Herald said. The Mercedes he was accused of stealing was equipped with a Global Positioning System that guided police right to him. Minks, 32, faces two counts of aggravated assault on police officers and single counts of grand theft auto and fleeing and eluding police officers.

asian fetish explained!

interesting article from the harvard crimson on the 'asian fetish'. and this is gonna sound a bit gross. but... you kno... biologically, and i'm not making this up. but uh... asian females have shorter / 'tighter' vaginal canals than other races. and asian men, are sorta like that. they got shorter and thinner penises (altho there's 'hope'. read that last paragraph and you'll see wat i mean. appt it's just about protein [no pun intended!]). i'm not saying that that's why other guys like aisan girls or that's why asian guys don't get much inter-racial play. but it's something to think about. anyway, this all reminds me of that yellow fever video that i posted a while ago.

wat is 'love'?

this past february national geographic had an interesting article about love. you can read an excerpt here. another short except is can be found here. this one is more about the chemical similarities of people in love and those with ocd (a mental disorder). i actually scanned in the whole article, so i you want to read the thing, just comment me and i'll send it to you. anyway, since it is national geographic it mainly talks about the science of love. but i do appreciate the chemistry and the biological reasons of why we love, stay in love, and fall out of it. i even find it rather romantic. because personalities change, and obviously so do looks. but scents? your pheromones? i dunno... that seems like a keeper. which is nice. because it means that even years from now, you and him will be the same people, where it counts anyway. but if you do need some help, it even has a couple suggestions on how to rekindle that spark.

best quote: "'I married him because of his B.O.'"

bad parenting

lots of people seem to think that Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes naming their kid Suri was strange, but i think it's a pretty name. watever it means. and most thought Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin naming Apple was a bit really weird. their son tho, is called Moses. which is a little unsual, but nothing too strange. i'd rather be name moses than jesus anyway. but get a load of wat these celebs named their kids (it's a good thing they come from rich families...):

Shannon Sossamon - Audio Science Clayton
Jason Lee & Beth Riesgraf  - Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf Lee
Nicholas Cage - Kalel Coppola Cage
Bob Geldof adopted and renamed his child to Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily
Bob Geldolf -
Fifi-Trixibelle

Frank Zappa - Moon Unit Zappa

Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller) - Moxie Crimefighter

Jermaine Jackson - Jermajesty

Michael Hutchence & Paula Yates - Tiger Lily Heavenly Hiraani

Tommy Lee Jones - Kafka (which i think is actually pretty cool)

James Oliver - Poppy Honey

Michael Jackson - Prince Michael

making up

altho we've had a really good run recently. reep and i got into a fight earlier this weekend about him not wanting to involve me in his life but wanting me to involve him. understandably, i was a bit upset at this.

background: he sometimes gets annoyed if i don't invite him out wit my friends. not to those target runs me and the girls do nearly every weekend. but i don't think that inviting him is always appropriate. for instance to a class reunion of sorts. yes he went to our school. and yes he knows most of the people. but so wat? i'm not gonna show up at his class reunion just cause i kno a few people here and there. (btw, i politely invited him because he was already down the street from my house.) or. he wanted to go to someone else's party at their house. i was invited he wasn't. this host. he's a friend of mine. he and reepal... well, they kno each other.

so the other day reep asked if i wanted to go see silent hill. i said yes, but not so badly, so he could go wit his friends and not wait for me. later on he told me they were gonna see the movie the next day at 10pm. which, really, isn't that late for me. a lil late, but nothing so bad. i asked him wat he would've done if i had said that i wanted to go. he said that he'd not go wit his friends and would just go wit me. ...why can't i go wit your friends? he thinks it'd be awkward because they'll feel like they can't act normally around him. but i think that if he were to act normally around them when i'm there, then they'll get the hint and get normal too. another reason, more legit, is that i'd be the only girl and he thinks they would be uncomfortable wit that. i can totally see that. his friends are a bit... unacquainted wit the female sex. we argue on a bit. i mean, i don't want to go to every little thing him and his friends do. but a movie? wat's so bad about that? and how uncomfortable can it be? we're all not talking to each other and sitting in a darkend room paying attention a giant screen.

suddenly he says, no, excuse me, declares, that from this point on we shall separate our personal lives from each other. ..because this solves the problem? obviously this is ridiculous. i mean, wat's supposed to happen if we ever do get married? will we have two weddings? one for his friends and another for mine? and i won't be at that wedding for his friends, right? because we're supposed to keep things separate?

that day i was also supposed to print out something for his dad that reepal had forgotten to print the last time he was here (i get free printing, i just need to supply the paper). and this is like 250 some pages we're talking about. and i'm upset over this 'separate' business so i'm thinking like, then i shouldn't print it because that's his dad, not one of my own friends or anything. later i finally got a hold of ting and we talked things out and i did eventually print it out. because as ting pointed out, i would feel bad if i didn't. and for me. like... wat, i'm gonna let my own integrity suffer and inconvenience your dad because you're wrong about something? no way.

later on i show up at his place wanting to just drop off the stuff. i see him sitting in his chair and i knock. he's wearing his head phones tho so i ring the bell and the door then opens. it's his dad! that threw me off a bit (this being a friday middish afternoon). so i hand the stuff over to his dad and he tells me that reepal's home and starts to call him. i'm like 'oh, well, i gotta go so...' reepal's already up and walking towards the door. he asks if i wanna come in and play puzzle fighter. at this point i'm still a bit annoyed about the afternoon (towards the end of our phone convo we were having these silences. and then suddenly the phone hung up. and i thought it was reception. but i called back and he didn't pick up. so i left a message. which he never responded to. so i was wondering if perhaps he had hung up on me.) so i say that no i have to pee (i do) so i should get home. he closes his door and starts to walk me to my car. on the way there he reaches over for my hand. so i guess we've made up. i dunno. i can't stand being mad at people. i forgive rather easily. which i kno sounds actually not like something i do. but believe me, i do forgive easily. if you say sorry and mean it, or if you try to bury the hatchet most likely i'll accept right away. unless this is something you've tried to pull a couple times.

so we get to the car and guess wat? he asks me to the movie. aw... i declined anyway. i mean, i didn't really wanna see it that badly anyway. and i dunno why, but i feel like... seeing a horror movie wit his friends... i get very scared during movies and things. (i tend to over identify) and so i'll scrunch up in my seat and cover my eyes and jump and scream at things. so, lol, i didn't want to make a total fool of myself. but also, it was a friday night. and my rents don't like it if i go out too late. ..10pm for a movie isn't late. but afterwards they'd wanna go eat. and i hate hate hate it when after a movie wit his friends reep and i leave them (for watever reason). i feel like... they feel like i'm restricting reepal. as if i want us to leave early. but i don't! i want everyone to act normally. i want them to be normal around me. i want them to like me. and if they feel like i'm whisking reepal away right after the movie, they'll be less inclined to act normally around me, which in turn would make them not like me.

so reepal asked. and i said no, that's okay, thanked him, and said that i hadn't really wanted to go anyway. this exasperated him and i was like, i just wanted you to ask so i knew you wanted me to to. he tells me i'm ridiculous. i think he's not thinking about it from my standpoint. but anyway. we talked more about it tonight as i posted this. and he said that from now on, if they go do a movie thing he'll ask me. :)

cagey

hm... i've been posting a lot of jewelry sites lately haven't i? well, here's another. lol. marion cage. she has some very cool jewelry made of wood. of her collection, i like her necklaces best. her earrings are... rather uninspiring. but oh well.

only in the states...

+------------------- Bizarre Lawsuits ---------------------+
A phone-sex operator in Florida won a settlement after she filed for worker's compensation, saying she had suffered repetitive-motion injuries in both hands. The repetitive motion was the result of using her hands to give herself as many as seven orgasms a day while talking to clients.

A Canadian man is suing a New York coffee shop after suffering what he calls damage to his manhood. His penis was pinched between the toilet seat and bowl when he reached forward for toilet paper. He is asking for $1 million to compensate for his "dire and permanent injuries."

A California grandmother is suing Disneyland after she and her grandchildren witnessed Mickey Mouse taking off his costume backstage. The suit is due to her grandchildren's traumatic experience.

Two surfers went to court after one allegedly stole the other's wave. The case was dismissed after court officials found it impossible to put a monetary value on the wave.

Lee Williams is suing a tattoo shop for spelling the word "villain" wrong in his tattoo. Neither Williams nor the tattoo artist knew how to spell the word. The tattoo ended up reading "villian."

A New York prison inmate is filing a suit for $8 million against the state after he accidentally shot himself with a gun he illegally smuggled into the jail. The inmate says that better security would have prevented him from getting the weapon inside.

i'm a bit outdated, but i favor sheer berry lipsticks. right now, however, pink is in. and after that i'm sure we'll be right back at nudes and naturals. normally i wouldn't care less. i like wat i like and i wear wat i like. but lookit those ladies. wow. seriously. wow. btw, the one in pink? holy wow is she pretty. speaking of which. reepal and i were watching white chicks yesterday. in it there is a guy who always asks his fbi partner who he's sleep with. for instance, rosie odonnell or janet reno, death not being an option. another question he asked was carmen electra or pam anderson. the catch being that they both have yeast infections. i pick carmen. i think she's prettier and her boobs, while alarmingly large, are not so horrifying large as pam's. i asked reep who he wanted and he said 'yeast!' hahaha! i almost died laughing! later i asked him why he said yeast? and he said that it was the first thing that popped into his head. i'm gonna take that as a good sign. that he'd rather sleep wit yeast than carmen or pam. :) and we all kno that i'm a million times better than yeast so i come in first at that list! above everyone! and everything! in the world!!

pigeon holed

so appt this guy has the rather unusual problem of being unable to gain weight. i have a slight problem wit this as well, but then, i've never tried so hard as to consume upwards of 6500 calories a day. in any case, i'd rather be known as the person who just couldn't gain wieght rather than 'woman who urinates herself.' lucky woman, that anne sellors.

colors

this is kind of a cool website that describes the evolution of colored paints through. It also has a cool bit where you can read the history of specific colors as well. wat i think i like best tho, is the names of such colors: carmine, veridian and smalt.

witch!

oh my god! i just realized, the fortune teller lady was right! i do like kids! in fact i love them! and i try to buy them at every opportunity i get. that's right! i love sour patch kids and i'm not afraid to say it!

shopgirl

so i recently watched shopgirl and was really blown away by the fashion in the film. you can see the thought that went into each outfit. and i like that you can gauge her character's evolution from her outfit choices. :) wat i'm most surprised about however is that i can't seem to find any blog about this! in many interviews claire danes is asked about her characters wardrobe and yet no site has screenshotted and then catalogued her outfits. i find this especially annoying because i fell in love wit a necklace she wears in the film. it's a white coral branch pendant on a simple metal chain. and some of her dresses... wow. anyway, if anyone comes across a site that has more pictures or her on set fashions i would be forever indebted to you. :)

hocus pocus

so two sundays ago my family went to rose hills to visit my grandparents and aunt. afterwards we went to a psychic. lol, just kidding! we went to a fortune teller. ..no, seriously. she reads poker cards. my dad was telling me this is the morning, that you get four question topics. i predicted that my mom would ask about her own job, her middle brother's job, my school, and her dad's health. later my mom explains how the psychic thing works and tells me which questions she's planning to ask. lo and behold, it was exactly as i predicted! i told her that she should just pay me the $50 and get it over with. anyway, so my mom was a bit worried about being late, but i was like 'well, i mean, she's a psychic, so she really ought to kno already, right?' my mom glared at me and snapped 'she's not that kind of psychic!' .. .well anyway. anyway, so we get to her house just a couple minutes after our appt and my mom runs over to the side door (she's been here before so she remembers which entrance to use) and this guy is standing there is and like 'who are you? and wat do you want?' my mom explains our business and the guy explains that she moved just down the street and around the corner. as we run back to the car i'm yelling out 'well this psychic sucks! you don't bother to tell people that you moved your business? it doesn't take psychic powers to kno people are gonna get confused; alll you need is a little common sense!' my dad finds this hilarious, my mom, not so much. see, my mom had her business card, which listed the address we went to (well, it could've been outdated by then. altho we found out later that actually the lady never did print up new cards...) and she had called just the day before to confirm our appt.

anyway, so we finally get there and see that the previous clients are still wit her. at this point my dad leans in and whispers to me that see, she did kno we were gonna be late. they get done and my parents go over to her desk. since there were only two chairs i elected to stay in the back of the room where i was already sitting. so i had read before that many 'psychics' actually are just really good at reading people. so you should refrain from giving them any clues to whether or not they're on the right track. so i decided to take it another step further and pick a facial expression and go with it. something neutral but also natural: a small smile.

so she starts wit really broad statements. how my parents are pretty well matched and how their daughter is a good kid. how they won't come into a a fortune of any sort but they financially they will remain secure. she then says that during this year it's okay for my parents to travel. my parents start nodding enthusiastically. she starts to expand on this travel thing after my dad explains that they're planning to take a trip this summer (to spain, portugal, and morocco; i'm so jealous!) then she does the four questions. she asks my parents what i'm studying and they tell her english wit an minor in education. she tells them that i am well suited for this job because i love kids and am a very compassionate person. ...this goes on.

afterwards we get back to our car and my mom starts saying how good this lady is, she even knew they were gonna travel! i point out that no, she didn't say that. she just said that it would be okay for them to travel. and that's a pretty good guess because at this time she didn't kno i wasn't done wit college but i look like i've maybe graduated and so now would finally be a good time for them to take a big trip. i then point out how hideously wrong she was about me liking kids. i told them why she probably thought that tho. see, there was this little boy running back and forth between the kitchen and the front door. every time he ran by i'd look at him. remember that i still have that smile on my face. but besides the boy there is no movement in the back of the room. so when he runs by she looks at him and sees me smiling at him. and so therefore, i like children. ha!

my mom points out the bit about how my grandfather is not in the greatest of health. i counter that and say, well duh, i mean, you two look how old? so yeah, obviously your parents are old. so it's pretty safe to say that their health is waning. my mom says well, wat about me and your dad, how did she kno we were okay? 'because he's with you. if you and him didn't get along then you probably wouldn't have come here together. and of course i look like a good daughter. i'm dressed conservatively, speak chinese however poorly), and am spending a sunday with my parents.'

'about the financial stuff? yeah you won't be rich. i mean, you're a bit old for that already. and we drive a 6 year old camry, so obviously we're not already rich. but it's obvious we're doing okay, i mean, look at your ring (my mom recently bought a sapphire and diamond ring. cause she doesn't like her wedding ring anymore. it was sorta an anniversary present from my dad). it's obviously not a wedding ring but it's on that finger. and it's quite large. therefore it's most likely an anniversary ring. also, i look wat, 20 something? so it's probably at 25 year anniversary ring. which means that you probably just had it. and no one buys a big ol ring if they're about to be broke.'

anyway... as you can see, the lady was pretty good at reading people. only thing she got totally wrong was that bit about me liking kids. nothing else she said was really concrete enough to say yes or no to. a lot of things were sortas. anyway, it was quite interesting and i'm rather glad i went. oh, and to set the record straight. my mom doesn't totally 100% believe the lady. it was more of a consult. my dad was skeptical but interested. and i was pretty skeptical. i wasn't totally against her tho. but i don't think she said anything really concrete enough for me to be impressed.

news flash

*grandmother dies at funeral. *start checking those pennies. *be careful when donating computers. (thanks to ting for the link) *and a new invention. an inflatable flash drive. lets you kno when its memory is full! (thanks to reep)

tiffany's

oh dear, i went thru the tiffany's website the other day and now i think i have to get something. lol. i've never been super excited about thier stuff before. sorta wanted some stuff. but i never loved anything. until i saw this necklace. wow. i love it. seriously. and it's only $125. i'm wondering if i should start saving up? of course i still like this tag necklace. but i also found this atlas cube lock pendant which i'm quite interested in. and of course i still lovelovelove this mother of pearl and gold heart necklace. don't see myself buying that one tho, it's $400. and even less likely would i be purchasing this turquoise teardrop pendant even tho it's oh so pretty. so i guess i'm really just pining after the cushion pendant i showed you first. lol, it's actually the cheapest thing i want too. the atlas cube was only a little higher at $175 and the tag necklace? $725. it's made of platinum. ...as if that explains the price any...

eternity

The stream echoed through the canyon, and it seemed the stream no longer flowed, but hovered, and was held as we were, in the insulating mist where time circled itself, uncertain of direction, until a peacock screamed, a tractor coughed, and the thousand wheels began to spin again.

dld and slr

oy, i'm a bit behind on updating this site... lots have been going on, i've just not really had the inclination to write about it. biggest thing recently was the daphne loves derby concert reepal i went to on thrusday night. the bit leading up to that is actually a pretty good story. so i was gonna order tickets online from ticketmaster. but as i was buying them i saw that they charged a buttload for fees and such. each ticket was originally $12. then  for each ticket there was a $1 venue fee in addition to another $4something service fee. in other words, instead of paying just $24 i'd have to pay upwards of $38! (...i kno if you add the numbers up it doesn't equal nearly $38 but that's the number i remeber seeing... tax?) which means i could've bought a whole other ticket for wat i paying in service charges! bah. so the concert was at the glasshouse in pomona and reepal has school in pomona on wednesday. so i asked if after school he could maybe swing by and get tickets. he said sure. then on wednesday (the day i went to lunch and then shopping wit thy and bought a beautiful electric blue eyeliner at sephora) sometime around noon reepal calls me and says that he's hella sick and that he's leaving school early and going home. as he was walking and talking he sounded really really bad so i offered to go to shool and pick up him. he declined. anyway, then like 2 hours later he calls me back sometime and says that he's lost and can't find glasshouse. ... wat?! yeah, appt he got back to his car and slept a while, then he felt good enough to drive around town and look around for that place so he could buy the tickets. isn't he amazing?! :) so yeah. that's my story. so i was thinking that even if he doesn't always like... pull it together for our holidays and such, he's pretty dang awesome most of the time. which is really wat counts. :) oy, even better, when i got home yesterday, i found that i had recieved my dld (daphne loves derby) cd in the mail (i had ordered it off ebay).

some horrifyingly bad pictures, i yes i kno... 1. openner curt phillips. 2. singers of agent sparks. 3. singer of quietdrive. 4. singer (and drummer) of waking ashland.5. and daphne loves derby's lead singer kenny choi (yes, korean).

overall a very good night. we got there early (we're not pretentious like some!) and saw all the bands (and i liked them all too). even reepal seemed to have fun. :) that area of pomona is also quite nice. you have to drive thru some shady areas to get there, but once there... and parking for the whole day was only 75cents! amazing! but mainly, i wanna thank reepal for making it all possible. :) thanks again!

wtf, ufo?

+----------------- Bizarre UFO Sightings ------------------+

On June 24th, 1947, Kenneth Arnold, former World War II fighter pilot, saw a cluster of disc-shaped objects near Mt. Rainier in Washington State, officially sparking the national debate over whether UFO's are real objects. When Arnold shared his account with reporters in Pendleton, he described the UFO's as "saucers." UFO's have popularly been referred to as "flying saucers" since.

On March 13, 1997, a number of witnesses, scientists, physicians, law enforcement officers, educators, attorneys, airline pilots, and other seemingly reliable witnesses, reported unusual lights moving in the Phoenix sky from Prescott to Tucson. Each report, within minutes of each other, described the object as a cluster of red-orange lights that gave the "impression of being in a "V" formation, somewhat like a wedge or boomerang in shape," according to one witness' report.

On January 6, 1969, Jimmy Carter reported a UFO sighting, which he made public while he was Governor of Georgia. Carter told the following to reporters: "It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. It was big, it was very bright, it changed colors, and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was. One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists."

On October 18, 1973, Captain Lawrence J. Coyne, Staff Sergeant John Healy, Co-Pilot Arrigo Jozzi, and Crew Chief SSGT Robery Yanacsek, Army reservists, were flying from Columbus, Ohio to Cleveland, Ohio in a helicopter. When the aircraft was near the Mansfield airport, Captain Coyne adjusted his flight path to avoid a collision with a "cigarshaped, metallic gray" object that shone a "green spotlight."

California Central Airliner was minutes outside the Burbank-Hollywood airport on October 5, 1950 when Captain Cecil Hardin noticed a lighted object approaching head-on. Co-pilot Jack Conroy later told reporters that the UFO was only in sight a few moments before passing below their plane. Captain Hardin said, "the thing that was really odd was that it didn't appear to have any fuselage. We also felt no propeller wash as the object passed under our wing."

singular!

so i signed up for a facebook account because an admin of themintpages.com needed an account so she could post cheaper ads for her site. i'm actually sorta against these sorts of sites so i decided to set it up and then not do anything wit it. the other day i remembered i had an account so i logged in and whoa! i had three friend requests! two were from philip sun. under different accounts i guess. and another was from some random dude from mit. why did he want to add me? cause we have the same name. that's right. his name was stephanie. ...no you dumbass. we have the same last name! which was still pretty weird... shao is not a terribly popular last name... anyway, so i got interested and name searced for other shaos. tons! so i searched my stephanie shao and guess wat?! there are two other girls who showed up! we all share the same freakin name! crazy! well, i mean... it would be really weird if my name was, say, ting shao. cause i doubt there'd be any of those (i didn't think to search). stephanie after all, is a popular name. then i searched reep's name. first his first. lots. then his last, and i found his sister. haha! then i searched his first and last. nothing! whoa...

bday pictures

geezum crow these pictures are late in coming... well anyway. these are from my bday ealier last month. lol. it's from when we went to 'color me mine' and made stuff. yeah. cool. and i was gonna link up a video of us, but youtube isn't sending me my confirmation email. or more likely, aol isn't letting me see it. bastards. anyway. i'll link you up sometime later. i promise you, it's a video not to be missed!

1. me looking over some stuff. and chang er... acting her normal self. 2. my masterpiece itself. if you can't see it well enough... it's my hand, which i traced, which has appt only two finger nails. it's also appt a gun, because there's a bullet shooting out of my middle finger. and because i'm no queen of the understatement, there's the word 'BANG' yep. beautiful. 3. me posing wit my masterpiece. 4. the four of us. angel was still in ny at the time, so she wasn't wit us in person. altho she was wit us in spirit!

beautiful

while researching multi-cultural barbies (see my snapshots) i came across this article about asians are (mis)represented by the barbie doll. my favorite line is definitely: "Sure, an [sic] FOB, friend of Barbie. Might as well be vice president." but that got me started thinking again about how asains are being affected wit the onset of cheaper and less invasive cosmetics surgery and even stronger forces of hollywood. i then found this interesting article which brings up a bit on how asians getting their feet narrowed. ...foot binding anyone? i can hardly stand the irony! which leads me to this site which goes thru the ages and defines the standards of traditional chinese beauty.
wether you're asian or not. female or male. please do take the time and read these sites. esp the second one (which mentions feet binding). this plague of needing to conform to wat the western media tells us is beautiful touches us all.

barbie

was researching a bit on barbie and found these pictures of the multi-cultural barbies. i think these are the prettiest. unfortunately i didn't really like any of the hispanic barbies, i didn't think they looked human enough. they all had these highly artificial eyes. come on mattel, you can do better than that! for a much more complete list (including pictures) go to this site. for more info about barbie's history and such, visit here.

1. princess of south africa. i think she is like, the most beautiful barbie i've ever seen. i am literally captivated by her face. and i'm happy they used that color. normally when people of african decent are portrayed, it is with the lightest skin color possible, while still being able to pass as 'black'. 2. princess of china barbie! (strange considering china didn't have princesses) but she looks pretty good doesn't she? also very beautiful and i'm super pleased that she looks quite 'asian'. japanese barbie also isn't bad. 3. princess of the incas. also very beautiful. her neck is a bit small however, but i think that's all barbies? she reminds me a lot of kimora lee simons, who's picture is number 4.

tax season!

+---------------- Bizarre Tax Write-Offs ------------------+

A client approached Manhattan CPA Marc Albaum about a very personal tax matter. "He had made some money being a sperm donor and wanted to know if he could take a depletion allowance," Albaum recalls. "I told him he really needed to be an oil well or something like that."

A client insisted on deducting the cost of his television and cable service, against his accountant's advice. "His reasoning was that he was a Spanish teacher at school, and
the only reason he bought the TV and had the cable was for the Spanish channels so he could be able to teach his students better," Frank Howard, CPA and principal of Howard and Waltrip in Dallas, says.

Back when the Society of Louisiana CPAs manned a tax hot line, few inquiries stumped them. But Al Suffrin, SLCPA's communications and public relations director, recalls one that did: "We took a call from an ostrich farmer in St. Tammany Parish who called in to find out how to go about depreciating an ostrich," he says. Strange as it sounds, you can depreciate an ostrich or any other livestock, as long as it's used for breeding.

"I had a guy come in one time wanting to know if he could deduct the cost of his dog food. His reasoning was that his dog was security for his house, therefore the dog food became a security expense," Howard says.

A rookie tax accountant completed a  return for one of the firm's old and trusted clients and turned it in to his boss, says Mary Anne Petesch, a CPA with Hagen Kurth Perman and Co. of Seattle. There followed several loud whoops of laughter from the partner's office. It seems the client had accidentally lost his dentures when they fell in the toilet and had claimed them on his taxes as an act-of-God casualty loss.

He fumbles at your Soul

As Players at the Keys

Before they drop full Music on –

He stuns you by degrees –

Prepares your brittle nature

For the Ethereal Blow

By fainter Hammers – further heard –

Then nearer – Then so slow

Your Breath has time to straighten –

Your Brain – to bubble Cool –

Deals – One – imperial – Thunderbolt –

That scalps your naked Soul –

When Winds take Forests in their Paws –

uci

mood: annoyed

uci. wat does it stand for? some say 'university of chinese immigrants'. other say 'university of chinese and indians' (i say no to that one. there aren't that many indians here. well. i dunno... i mean, i live next door to pioneer blvd so maybe this is a lot of indians and i just don't kno it?) others say it stand for 'under construction indefinitely'. i agree wit this one... so i'm taking a poety class in some little trailers on campus. and you kno how it's been raining a lot this week? well, my 'classroom' ceiling leaks. in five different places. i kid you not. at first it was just one leak. someone from the class before had put an aquafina bottle on a chair to catch the water. it was yellow in color. nice... then during class another leak sprung. my teacher brought the trash can over. those big rectangular trash cans. as he was positioning it, another dripdripdrip. so now we have the aquafina bottle catching one leak. and the trash can catching two. sometime later in the same class, two more leak appear. ... i am paying nearly $3000 a quarter for education which is housed in this? i mean, dude, in hs i was in trailers. ...i went to a public hs. and yeah, this is a public uni, but still. hs was free. this place? not so much. it's costing me like $18k a year. and you kno wat? in hs? those trailers didn't leak! argh! ...man this place sucks.

recent favorite

I know you're dying to tell me everything that you want to say,

but I'm not listening.
Try to tell me everything that you want to say.
I know you're trying to force me.

Feed me lies but I'm on my way.

Can you taste it now?
I'm dying to watch your face when I walk away.

Here's the final bullet to put our love to death.

Our days are never coming back.
I know it's you. I can forget. Bang, bang. Shoot, shoot.
There's a freight train coming to force your head in check.

Our love is never coming back.
I know it's you. I can forget our love forever ending.

I know you're dying to tell me everything that you want to say,

but I'm not listening.
Trying to tell me everything will be okay (will be okay)
You're trying to warm my heart but you freeze my blood.

There's ice inside my veins.
I'm only dying to watch your face when I turn away (and I’ll turn away)

But you cannot separate the two things I would live or die for.
I'd kill to separate your heart from your head. That's to die for.

Here's the final bullet to put our love to death.

Our days are never coming back.
I know it's you. I can forget. Bang, bang. Shoot, shoot.
There's a freight train coming to force your head in check.

Our love is never coming back.
I know it's you. I can forget our love forever ending.

You're just a waste of soul. You're a simple regret.
I thought I knew who you were, but watch how fast I forget.
You wore your prettiest dress, but there's a mess in your head.
They say old habits die hard. I say they're better off dead,
cause you were bitter and cold, but still you burned me alive.
You held the match to my skin and poured the fuel on the fire.
You're not my favorite mistake. You're just a simple regret.
I thought I knew who you were, but watch how fast andwatch how well I forget.

(It's too late to play the good guy.

It's too late to play the good guy now.
It's too late to play the good guy. Goodbye.)

Here's the final bullet to put our love to death.
Our days are never coming back.
I know it's you that can't forget. Bang, bang. Shoot, shoot.
There's a freight train coming to force your head in check.
Our love is never coming back.
I know it's you. I can forget our love forever ending.

There's a freight train coming to force your head in check.

Our love is never coming back.
